Healthcare
McCarthys was appointed to deliver a multi-phase refurbishment across a secure healthcare facility, balancing operational requirements for resident safety with project efficiency.
Works were carefully sequenced and delivered concurrently across multiple areas of the facility. Phase 1 encompassed demolition, flooring replacement, installation of sanitaryware, and upgrades to plumbing and drainage systems incorporating an integrated plumbing system (IPS). Seclusion rooms were also refurbished to meet anti-ligature and tamper-resistant specifications, ensuring the safety of residents.
Phase 2 saw the refurbishment of 10 bedrooms with en-suites, three seclusion rooms, one clinic, and a communal kitchen. It also included upgrades to water management systems and fire suppression installations. All doors, sanitaryware, and furniture were selected and installed to meet strict specifications, minimising risk and ensuring a secure environment.
To support the sensitive nature of operating in a live, high security environment, site operatives completed the Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA) training program.
Outcomes:
- Refurbishment and installation to stringent safety standards.
- Works delivered efficiently across multiple areas of a live, high-security environment
- Staff trained in MAPA to maintain resident safety and operational control
